About the Series
As a child, I was intrigued by the practice of archeology. I would spend hours with books from the local library, studying photographs of ancient objects lying in the soil, labeled and surveyed to preserve their context. It wasn’t long before I was fabricating my own exotic artifacts and burying them in the back yard-- my own personal “dig”. Forming objects using the discarded materials available to me forced me to create stories to explain them, just as archeologists had pieced together stories to explain what they found. Making objects which hint at a unique utility and a personal symbolism is my way of literally “artifact-ing”—bringing a fantasy world into the actual, factual, physical one. Explore my series below.
